Zircondia.

A world where bedtime fables tell of trolls kidnapping witches to feed to the Creatures in the Maze, and legends abound of ferocious dragons in nests of scorching flame.

A planet governed by mighty stone heads who seek to control every realm, from the merfolk to the unicorns.

A jewel of the Universe, fought over by ruthless alien races wanting to claim it for themselves and cause great fear and destruction along the way.

It is a place of secrets and sorcery, lies and legends, wars and wickedness; and a witch, caught between the wrongs of the past and deceptions of the present, seeks to discover the truth upon this world of mystery and magic.

Enchantment Deception The Enchantment Series Book 1 eBook Amber Averay

Enchantment's Deception is an awesome blend of sci-fi and fantasy. It has everything from aliens at war to witches, dragons and a myriad of other mythical beings. It is rich in descriptive detail and the characters have depth.

I read this book in one day and was left wishing I had the sort of imagination that could create what will probably turn out to be an epic series. I hope the follow up book will be coming soon...

Enchantment Deception The Enchantment Series Book 1 eBook Amber Averay Reviews

This book was SOOOOO out of my comfort zone as far as reading materials go. It was completely different. It took me awhile to get in to it (I think it was because in order to understand the alien dialog you had to read footnotes), but after about 30 pages I was finally hooked. The Red Aliens are fighting the Blue Aliens... then suddenly we're down to the planets surface and we meet a rebelous witch named Sigrid. I fully support Sigrid in all she does. She may be rambuncious and defiant to her peoples ways, but in a society that disregards women and puts them so far below men, she earned my respect. She may have earned my respect, but the other people of her world avoid her like the plague. Her inquisitive nature and carefree attitude leads her on one adventure after another, meeting Fae, Unicorns, Trolls, Minotaurs, Elves and Dragons. This part of the book was excellent (reading about Sigrid). The story keeps flashing to the Alien war taking place over their planet, and I just couldn't get in to that part of the story. At least not until 3/4 of the way thru the book when you finally figure out WHY the aliens are doing battle. Then the whole story comes together in spectacular fashion and then ends, with a few unanswered questions. I hope there will be a sequel.

I recieved a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review
I received this book in exchange for a honest review. (Lovers of Paranormal, r2r, GR's)

You got Fairies, Elves, Unicorns, Mermaids, Trolls, Minotaurs, Dragons, Aliens, and Witches! Did I miss any? A total fantastical world, that was so much fun and so enthralling to dive into.

The main character Sigrid comes across arrogant in some parts, but she is a head strong woman who is full of sass, and is not at all a boring lady. =P

The other characters are well done, described, like the world itself, in great detail. The twists and plots are super interesting and will keep you involved for sure.

And all this happening while an interplanetary battle is going on between the Reds and the Blues. Never a dull moment. And of-course I'm not going to tell you how it all ends...

(Nine weeks is all it takes for a witch to have a baby? Yes please! LOL)

This is a part of Sigrid's journey for answers, that speaks of how she is viewed by her fellows.
(And I just liked her honesty.)

"You are not like the other witches, are you?" The Troll didn't ask a question, but made the statement. His gravelly voice was shaded with thoughtfulness. It surprised me. The Troll continued. "You do not conform to their desires and ideals of what should belong in their perfect world. We are alike in that respect, I think."
"We aren't that similar." And I believed it. We were completely different. He was a Troll, cast out because of his evil acts. I was a young female witch, fighting against the stifling witchmould created by the Elders thousands of years ago. I was trying to show the creatures of Zircondia that beings could not only look different, but have different personalities. But I was not naive. I knew that personally I was considered far less than the other females of the planet; and they were situated extremely low on Zircondia's Ladder of Importance. I was regarded by many to be as filthy and repulsive as the supposedly fictional Trolls and creatures in the Labyrinth.
The crime of women in general is that they are not male. My crime was that I was different and flaunted it.
The story is fascinating, yet top heavy. There are so many twists and turns in the plot, it's easy to get lost, but it's worth the effort to stay on track. There are three distinct plot lines, and they intermingle without warning.

The first plotline consists of a constant battle between red aliens and blue aliens above a planet far removed from the planet of Zircondia, where most of the action takes place. These battles take place predominately in the mind of Sigrid, the main character. The reason for them doesn't become apparent until most of the way through the book. It's distracting as well as confusing until the big reveal, when everything falls into place, and makes total sense.

The second plotline consists of the daily lives of a trio of sibling witches. Stanford the brother, and Jeanette the sister are ever-present, but the tale is told through the eyes of the youngest, Sigrid. Her parents treat her as non existent, so her siblings basically raise her. She is a chubby outcast with massive character flaws who gets up to all sorts of adventures that are forbidden by the powers that be. You can't help but admire her courage and spirit, in spite of the fact that she is completely unapologetic about her troublesome nature. During her ramblings she spends a lot of time in the forest, where she isn't supposed to go. While there, she makes friends with characters that aren't supposed to exist, such as elves, faeries, trolls and minotaurs.

The third plotline is an intrigue where Sigrid finds out that there's been a seven thousand year old injustice perpetrated by the Elders, who govern the witches on Zircondia. Females have no say about anything on this planet, where characters live for thousands of years. Only male witches are allowed to use their powers as they wish, but Sigrid uses her powers anyway to uncover the truth about why witches have been disappearing for millennia. She literally risks her life to right the wrong done by
those in authority.

I have only one complaint. There's a good deal of contradicting information. Witches are not allowed in the forest, yet contingent plans exist for those who do go in. Sigrid is not allowed to go into the forest, yet relatives give her unicorns, who live in the forest. The unicorns are a free race, but Sigrid owns some of them. Although she loves them and treats them well, I don't much care for the idea of unicorns being bought and sold like horses, although they are obviously sentient beings.

There's some great dry sarcastic humour all through the story. It pops in and out when least expected. The languages that the author Amber Averay has created for her characters, is impressive. It's an excellent fantasy read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
